Product Description

“It’s been seven years since the release of jazz guitarist Paul Silbergleit’s debut recording, Sliberglicity. That album not only revealed his promise as a performer, but also demonstrated his abilities as a writer of beautiful and swinging melodies.

‘My New Attitude’ is Slibergleit’s latest recording. Like the earlier release, it features a tasty menu of mostly original compositions. But reflected in the title, as well as in the performance, is a a more affirmative and assertive approach to making music. The years of further experience, honing his skills on the bandstand, have served him well.

Silbergleit’s love of jazz began while growing up in Fargo, North Dakota, a city known more for its “Alberta Clippers” (blinding snowstorms) than Alberta Hunters. Kenny Burrell, Dexter Gordon, and Grant Green are just a few of his early influences, and that sound is certainly apparent at the first listen. He attended Oberlin College in Ohio from 1986 to 1990, benefiting from the vibrant jazz program at the prestigious conservatory there. Upon graduating he move back to Milwaukee (the city of his birth), where he currently teaches at the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music.

He has performed with musicians the likes of Melvin Rhyne, Brian Lynch, David Hazeltine, and Richie Cole, among others involved in the Milwaukee jazz community, as well as with organ legend Jack McDuff.

Paul Silbergleit is not only a talent who has come to play, he has something of substance to talk about. I trust you too will enjoy the sound of his new attitude.”

“In making this recording, my goal has been to express myself through a solid rendering of these compositions as much as through my guitar playing. And a big part of the joy of the whole project for me is to sit back and listen when the music takes off at the hands of my four fine colleagues, with beautiful things happening where all I did was to catalyze and facilitate it by setting up the context.”
